Gujarati Cuisine:That’s love served on platter

Posted in Indian food

There is something sacred about food which is not a secret to any of us, but a Gujarati takes this to another level. Gauges are famous for their love of food, travelling and business mindset. This is the only platter that satisfies all your taste buds. Gujarati cuisine is one of the oldest culinary treasures of India that is preserved by the people as they carry this cultural asset with them wherever they go.

Here we can see that the Jain community has left a significant mark on the eating habits. In spite the vast coastline, this is a predominant vegetarian region. The food is served in a highly creative fashion as it always a perfect blend of vegetables, mild spices and high nutrition. The immense use of sugar, tomatoes and lemon give this creative platter an extremely unique taste. The plate pleasing combination of sweet and sour flavours can be enjoyed in dishes like Khandvi, Undhiyu, Dhokla, Methi ka thepla, Handvo, Khathi mithi dal, sev usan, dal dhokhli and the list is endless.

An elaborate affair usually known as the Gujarati thali is silver coated that comprises of roti, khathi mithi dal, shaak, homemade pickle, tomato chutney. The sensation seekers, of course, add vaaghar that is blend of spices purified in oil, which enhances the flavor and is sometimes irresistible. The prominent use of yogurt and besan is another feature that sets these dishes apart.

We are all born with a sweet tooth and what better way to end a meal than Guajarati desserts. The famous shrikhand, jalegis, keri no ras, kansar, sutarfeni, malapuri, sukhadi are a die-hard for. It’s also confusing whether people celebrate food or festivals in the western part of our country. The lip smacking dishes that are festival or season famous are Ghooghra, magas, undhiyo, doodhpak, lilva kachori.

This is not only famous in the western region of the country, but is now a global cuisine. The people of dry state are always high on sweetness. Happy eating!
